On April 12th, 2026, Youth Pastor Luke Boisseau delivered a straight-from-Scripture message on what the Bible says about family — marriage, roles, and raising children. The family still matters — to individuals, to society, and above all, to God.
God Is the Designer
God created the family. When we operate within His design, things work. When we don't, they don't.
"When we operate within the parameters of the creator's design, things work out best."
What Is Marriage?
God defined marriage two chapters into the Bible — and Jesus reaffirmed it in the New Testament. The definition hasn't changed.
"A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one."
Genesis 2:24 / Matthew 19:4–5
"Time changes. Truth doesn't. Truth doesn't have an expiration date."
Leave and Cleave
Leave means to transition out of the covenant with your parents and enter a new one with your spouse. Cleave means to cling, to pursue hard, to hold fast — no matter what comes.
"If you don't leave, you can't cleave."
God Goes First — Always
Marriage isn't between two people. It's between three. When God isn't at the center, everything else drifts out of place.
Roles in Marriage
"For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord... And for husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church."
Ephesians 5:22, 25
A husband who leads sacrificially creates a marriage where trust and submission flow naturally. This isn't about domination — it's about order and function.
"The grass isn't always greener on the other side. You know where it's greener? Where you water it."
Children — A Gift to Train Up
"Train up a child in the way he should go, and even when he is old, he will not depart from it."
Proverbs 22:6
When we raise children in the ways of the Lord, that foundation stays with them — even if they wander. They always have something to come back to.
Why the Family Matters to the Body of Christ
Marriage mirrors the covenant between Christ and the church — the most sacred relationship that exists.
The home is where children first learn about Jesus. The church reinforces what the home builds.
Strong families build strong communities — and advance God's kingdom.
